Arthur Brookman was the son of Arthur and Annie Brookman who came to Victoria in 1928. They ran the corner store on Admirals and Gorge Roads which remained virtually unchanged until 1949 when Mr. Brookman Jr. built the service station and the apartment block. Arthur Brookman Jr. attended Craigflower and Mount View Schools. He joined the Navy in 1941. Upon his return, he worked with the Pacific Meat Company for a short time and then went back to running the store in 1947. He kept the store until 1971, then rented it to Maurice and Kileasa Wong. Mr. Brookman was well known for his track and field accomplishments. He died in 1995.
