Name of creator
Bruce Lowther, born in 1926, was a journalist, broadcaster, author and historian with a particular interest in British Columbia labour history. His publication A Better Life: The First Century of the Victoria Labour Council was published by in 1989. From 1954 to 1976 he worked as a reporter and columnist for the Victoria Daily Colonist. He died in Victoria in 1999.
Donated to Saanich Archives in 2007.

Scope and content
Collection consists of books on British Columbia-History. Includes newspapers from Victoria, Seattle, Vancouver, and London (England) which are primarily special editions from the end of WWI and WWII, and from the City of Victoria Centennial in 1962. Other material includes audio recordings of the program "Ideas" (June 1996) re: Victoria in 1890. Includes photographs found inside some of the books.
