Handwritten text reads: Craigflower School - built in the year 1854 - First teacher Chas Clark who arrived from England on the HB Coy Ship "Princess Royal" in 1854. H. Claypole succeeded him in 1859, and the writer followed Mr. Claypole in 1865. Mr. Claypole stands under the 3rd window to the right, and the writer to the left of the door. Tho Russell.
