Historia archivística

Anne Alice Girling’s photographic collection was salvaged in the 1960s from the family’s Finnerty Road house by Ron Vidal, a neighbour and employee of the University of Victoria's Physics shop, before the house was demolished. The collection was given to Lindsay Lambert, a theatre student at the university, in 1977. Mr. Lambert, a photographic historian, preserved the collection in its entirety for over 30 years. Lindsay Lambert donated Anne Alice Girling’s 1901 field camera, plate holders, printing frames and collection of negatives to Saanich Archives in 2008. Further accruals were donated by Lindsay Lambert and by descendants of the Girling family from 2009 to 2013.
