Ursula Josephine "Jo" Cole MacGregor was born in 1924 to Saanich residents William and Ursula Ley. Her maternal grandfather was William T. Edwards, a pioneering daffodil farmer in Saanich. After her parents divorced when she was 6, she grew up in the Edwards family farmhouse in Gordon Head. Jo Ley attended Mount Douglas High School. In 1942 Jo Ley met Ernest Morgan Keith MacGregor, an Army officer stationed at Gordon Head Army Camp. They married in 1945. After the war, Ernest was posted to various locations, and when he retired around 1976, he and Jo returned to the Victoria area and purchased a house at 2452 Camelot Road. Jo MacGregor was involved with the Heritage Tree Society and the Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary. She died in 2015, and both Jo and Ernest MacGregor are buried at St. Luke's Church Cemetery.
