Biographical history

Henry Pollock and May Seward Hope immigrated to Canada from England in 1907. H.P. Hope worked in the Golden area as a school inspector before the family settled in Victoria where H.P. Hope taught at Victoria High School while completing his accreditation through McGill. In 1911 the family moved to Oak Bay and then to Brentwood Bay in 1923 when H.P. Hope became the first Headmaster at Brentwood College. He retired from the college in 1933. Henry Pollock Hope died on June 3, 1937. May Hope died on September 1, 1958. Henry Pollock Hope and May Hope had three children, all born in England: Henry Theodore Samuel Hope (H.T.S.) born in 1900, Barbara Gillard Hope born in 1901, and Patrick Hope born in 1906 or 1907.
