Jim Askey has lived in Saanich since ca. 1940. He grew up in the Carey area and attended McKenzie Avenue School. Jim Askey’s mother, Doris Fieldhouse, was born and raised in Saanich. Jim Askey’s father, George Askey, was born in Nanaimo and raised in Saanich. George Askey was the Saanich Police Commissioner from 1949 to 1963.

Fonds consists of records relating to the Askey and Fieldhouse families, the Gorge and Carey areas of Saanich, and Greater Victoria history in general. Fonds includes photographs, postcards, books, a map, and an autograph book. Fonds also includes George Askey's WWII air raid precaution helmet.

Donated in multiple accessions from 2008 to 2012 by Jim Askey. Helmet transferred in 2019 by the Alumnae Association of the Royal Jubilee Hospital School of Nursing Archives.
