Information from donor: The photograph dates from ca. 1900 and was given to Herbert Jeune by a cousin, Mr. Peter LeRossignol. "Peter apparently worked on a farm situated on the present site of Camosun College (which would be just to the left of the foreground part of the picture)." Photograph believed to be taken facing south. "[...] on the right foreground side, which would be the North side there was a slaughterhouse situated there....which later burned down and the fire created some very interesting odours which wafted over the city!".
